I’m a big Stephen King fan, but surprisingly, I still haven’t read Pet Sematary.
So this Halloween, I’m reading this little gem and enjoying every bit of it. It’s engaging and masterfully written like other King novels. I don’t think it’ll be a favorite (that spot’s reserved for Misery!), but it will definitely be one of the most remembered.
So far, here’s my favorite line from the book:
“And the most terrifying question of all may be just how much horror the human mind can stand and still maintain a wakeful, staring, unrelenting sanity.”
Stephen King novels may not be Pulitzer-material, but you must admit the king of terror knows how to build a world that’s terrifying and believable at the same time. I have a few dozens pages left to read, and he has already impressed on me that this novel is one of his greatest works.
Anyway, enjoy your Halloween everyone while I devour the last pages of Pet Sematary.
Yeah, King is excellent- Salem’s Lot is the one which still scares the pants off me. He is very good at creating atmosphere, tension and great characters. Respect!
Yeah, King is the master of tension, pace, characters… He has it all – and Salem’s Lot still scares the pants off me. Respect!
